Council Overview

The National Council for Occupational Safety and Health was established pursuant to Council of Ministers Resolution No. (379), dated 7/7/1443 AH, corresponding to 8 February 2022. It was established as an outcome of the National Strategic Programme for Occupational Safety and Health, launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development under the National Transformation Programme, one of the programmes of Saudi Vision 2030.

The Council aims to govern the occupational safety and health ecosystem at the national level, strengthen collaboration and coordinate roles and responsibilities among relevant stakeholders, and oversee the implementation of the National Occupational Safety and Health Policy. It also seeks to adopt global best practices and standards in line with the needs and requirements of the Saudi labour market, enhance the market’s attractiveness to skilled professionals, improve organisational productivity, and protect workers’ health and safety.

Leadership in building an integrated occupational safety and health ecosystem and strengthening collaboration with relevant stakeholders at the national and international levels, contributing to the adoption of global best practices.

To build a leading national occupational safety and health ecosystem by developing regulations and legislation, enhancing capabilities and resources, raising awareness among target groups, and strengthening oversight and compliance.
